AniCura, one of Europe’s leading providers of high-quality veterinary care for companion animals, acquires Tierklinik Neckarwiesen in Esslingen near Stuttgart. The partnership provides Tierklinik Neckarwiesen with a professional partner for future development as well as additional opportunities for knowledge and best practice sharing.

Tierklinik Neckarwiesen, now AniCura Kleintierzentrum Neckarwiesen, was founded by Dr Frank Merkt in Esslingen more than 20 years ago. The clinic moved into newly refurbished and larger facilities in 2007 and attends to more than 35 000 patients per year.

Tierklinik Neckarwiesen predominantly serves pets and pet owners in the Stuttgart-Esslingen-Göppingen region. About one in six patients are referred from other clinics or practices, with reproduction services provided to breeders, in particular, attracting customers on a national scale. Dr Frank Merkt, a veterinary specialist in small animals, leads a team of 32 veterinary professionals, of which 13 are veterinarians. The team holds expertise in reproduction, surgery, orthopaedics, internal medicine, cardiology and odontology. The clinic also possesses special know-how in reptiles, rodents and rabbits.

The facilities offer 24/7 emergency services, 365 days a year. The building is equipped with ultrasound, x-ray, dental x-ray, endoscopy and hosts a modern laboratory.

─ Being part of a larger family of clinics helps us to secure continuity of our clinic in the future. We strongly believe in the potential of AniCura to encourage knowledge and best practice sharing within the family of clinics and expect synergies from collaborating on a larger scale; continuing education is a significant benefit to our employee development, says Dr Frank Merkt, Practice Manager Tierklinik Neckarwiesen.

─ We are pleased to welcome Tierklinik Neckarwiesen to AniCura and look forward to shaping the future of veterinary care together, says Peter Dahlberg, CEO AniCura.
