Gilpin Lodge is thrilled to announce Tom Lewis as new General Manager from March 2010. Tom Lewis joins Gilpin Lodge as General Manager following four years as Resident Manager and subsequently General Manager at Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons, the creation of Chef Patron, Raymond Blanc. Tom had major input in Raymond Blanc’s 10 year strategic vision and business plan and has immersed himself in projects including implementing major changes and events. His previous positions include Studley Priory, Oxforshire; Great Fosters Hotel, Surrey; The Angel Hotel, Midhurst; The Feathers Hotel, Woodstock and Dukes Hotel, London. Tom will be working alongside the Cunliffe family and his appointment coincides with the immanent launch in June of Gilpin Lake House, a 6-suite hotel with Spa and boat house. Located in one of the most stunning Lakeland settings, the house is on the banks of a private lake with island, and is surrounded by kitchen gardens, woodland, a druids circle, and 100 acres of private grounds. Each suite has been individually designed by Sarah-Jane Neilson. 2009 was certainly a successful year for Gilpin Lodge: Announced winner of the 2009 Cumbria Tourism Awards, the family run hotel went on to win Small Hotel of The Year in England's Northwest Tourism Awards 2009, and chef Russell Ploughman also had his 3 rosettes confirmed at the AA Awards. This year sees them short listed for the English Tourist Board tourism awards for top small hotel. 5-course dinner, full English breakfast and Classic Room from £290 based on 2 sharing.
