HARRY MURRAY APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF LUCKNAM PARK HOTEL & SPA, BATH

Harry Murray has been appointed Chairman of Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa near Bath in Wiltshire. Harry has been Managing Director at the AA five red star hotel for the past 13 years. Claire Randall who has been General Manager for the past 11 years is now promoted to Managing Director. Harry who was named Hotelier of the Year in1986, appointed MBE in 2006 and presented with a Life Time Achievement Award in 2008 for services to the Hospitality Industry does not intend to retire completely from the hotel or the industry. “I will continue to support Claire Randall and the dedicated team at Lucknam Park as well as representing the hotel on various trade bodies and charities including the British Hospitality Association, Master Innholders, Academy of Culinary Arts, the Institute of Hospitality and Hospitality Action”. Harry has been in the hospitality industry for more than 50 years and has managed several hotels in this country including The Imperial, Torquay. In South Africa he opened a 5-star hotel in 1973. Arriving at Lucknam Park in 1997 his vision was to make the hotel the best country house hotel in UK. Harry commented “I certainly believe that the dedicated team have gone a long way towards achieving that aim.” During the past 13 years more than £20m has been invested in the property refurbishing bedrooms, public areas, the equestrian centre, tennis courts and developing what Harry describes as the best hotel spa in the country.
