The City of Solna has won the Vitalis award for IT innovations within health care and long-term care, for the best solution within community care. The solution has been developed by Catrel. Their system, Mobipen Care, sets a new standard for documenting home care services in municipalities. Mobipen Care is based on Anoto Functionality, a technology for digital pens and paper developed by Anoto. The solution makes it easy to use pen and paper to capture information about who the home care workers are visiting, what is being done, and who is doing it. It is also possible to document variances, times and daily records.

“We have developed a process for quality assuring home care, from the initial decision to provide assistance through to the home care services actually carried out. With this IT solution we ensure that our clients actually receive the home care they have ordered, and that the City of Solna pays only for what has actually been done.” says Liane Wallerstedt-Johansson, Manager of Health Care Administration in Solna. “For an IT system to be fully effective, the technology must be so user-friendly that anyone can handle it. Digital pens and paper is an excellent tool for achieving this. In addition, the written text stays with the client as a receipt”, says Hans Backman, in charge of IT at Solna’s Health Care Administration. “Thanks to close cooperation with the City of Solna, Mobipen Care has been developed into a product with excellent support for documentation and follow-ups within the home care service, something we are finding as we start to introduce the system in other municipalities”, says Magnus Fröberg from Catrel. “We congratulate Solna Municipality on the award. For Anoto, this is an acknowledgement that Anoto Functionality is well suited for applications within health care and long-term care. This kind of forms solution is currently being installed in municipalities and counties in several other parts of the world”, says Örjan Johansson, CEO of Anoto Group. The jury’s verdict: The City of Solna has found a new way to document care being provided in the home. It gives those receiving care greater confidence and legal assurance that they are getting the care they are paying for. The municipality's possibilities for quality assurance increase across the board to achieve more balanced support assessments, quality follow-ups of help provided in the home, improved working environment for staff and more effective following-up by management. The solution is flexible and not tied to the procurement process (the municipalities' traditional one, or purchasers/providers) nor to suppliers (whether under the municipalities’ own management or by outside contractors). The solution has been widely implemented in Solna, with excellent co-operation among everyone in the organization.
