US-based LeapFrog launches the FLY™pentop computer – a new product category for interactive learning based on Anoto technology

LeapFrog Enterprises, Inc. today launches the FLY pentop computer, a totally new product category targeting tweens, making learning how to read, write, count and learn fun. The FLY pentop computer is based on Anoto technology and is launched together with applications and books that stimulate learning, creativity and creating through fun and innovative use of pen and paper. LeapFrog is a world-leading developer of innovative, technology-based educational products and related proprietary content dedicated to making learning effective and engaging for all ages. LeapFrog products are sold in high volumes in more than 25 countries around the world. “We have high expectations for the FLY pentop computer and we see very strong potential for the platform long-term. Anoto was the ideal technology partner as our product research on how writing aids creativity and thinking progressed. The first FLY pentop computer product offers a wide range of breakthrough applications specifically created for tweens. The FLY pentop computer will enable users to get feedback via sound that can be used in a personal way for learning, communicating, doing homework and a range of other built in activities. The FLY pentop computer can translate foreign languages, do math calculations, provide prompts spelling et cetera. Other FLY applications are created for children, for example different games, interactive music games, and so on. “The FLY pentop computer moves us into a new product space and significantly expands our offering to an older age group as we enter the fast-growing consumer electronics market and reach tweens with products that combine easy-to-use technology with inspiring and fun content to help them develop and learn,“ says Jim Marggraff. “We are extremely pleased with this announcement, which confirms the value of our technology.
