SECOND QUARTER RESULT OF CONTINUING OPERATIONS LOWER THAN FORECAST

In early May, Lännen Tehtaat estimated that the operating performance of the
Group's continuing operations, adjusted for non-recurring items, would show a
result for the second quarter comparable with the same period last year.
However, because of the poor performance of the Fish Business, the operating
performance of the Group's continuing operations will fall short of the estimate
and below that of the same period last year. On the other hand, the combined
result for the second quarter for continuing and discontinued operations will be
considerably higher than in the previous year due to the profit realized from
the sale of the majority holding in Suomen Rehu Oy.

In the Fish Business, in the second quarter Apetit Kala was plagued by problems
caused by repeated breakdowns at the Kuopio plant, which hampered deliveries and
caused sales losses as well as extra costs in production and logistics. The
start of operations transferred from Kustavi to Kuopio was also delayed.
Additional extra costs were incurred by preparing for the threat of a food
industry strike at the beginning of the quarter. The operating performance of
the Maritim Food AS group was as expected. Because of the disruptions in
domestic production, the operating performance of the Fish Business will be
poorer than estimated in the second quarter and showing a loss. The performance
of the Vegetable Oil Business will be lower than last year, as anticipated,
while Grain Trading performed better than last year. The Frozen Foods Business
and Other Operations developed as anticipated during the second quarter.

Grain Trading, consisting of the Avena Nordic Grain group, is reported as a
separate segment together with the continuing operations. The operating
performance of continuing operations for the entire year, adjusted for
non-recurring items, is expected to be at the level of the comparative year.

The Lännen Tehtaat interim report for January-June 2007 will be published on
