The majority of wine enthusiasts will agree that the most reliable way to choose a wine is to taste it first. Only by smelling, savouring and finally tasting the wine is its full flavour unmasked and its journey from grape to glass revealed. Visitors to any of Majestic Wine’s UK stores between now and Easter can experience this sensory overload first hand under the expert guidance of the Majestic staff as each store hosts a series of three week long, themed tastings.
Majestic Wine is the only wine merchant to offer free wine tastings in store all day, every day. The high street and online retailer’s unique wine tasting experience also includes a series of country specific tastings such as the ones being offered throughout March as well as the industry-renowned Wine Course. Designed as a relaxed, pressure-free introduction to wine, the store-hosted Wine Course is a fun, informative initiation into the complex world of aromas, bouquets, tannins and finishes. In addition to The Wine Course, a series of three special tasting events will be held in store, beginning with a week-long celebration of the wines of Portugal on Friday 18 March. Portuguese wine is diverse with a range of varietals and wine styles – from sparkling whites to fruity reds. Majestic stock a number of Portuguese wines including the Decanter bronze medal winning Quinta de Azevedo Vinho Verde 2009/2010. The second of the week long country specific tastings focuses on Spanish wine. A perennial favourite of the UK wine connoisseur, the wines of Spain are vibrant, innovative and diverse with traditional favourites like Rioja sitting happily alongside fantastic offerings from previously unheralded grape varieties and producers. The Vionta Albariño 2009 Rias Baixas is a perfect example. Grown in the historic northern region of Galicia, famed for its rainy days, rural landscapes and miles of waterways, the Albariño grape gives flavours of kiwi, apples and herbs. The Spanish Wine tasting sessions are available in Majestic stores up and down the country from 25 March. Step into any Majestic store in the run up to Easter and you’ll find yourself spoilt for choice. From the 08 – 21 April, an Easter themed tasting session will showcase perfect wines to pair with traditional dishes such as roast lamb.
