Launching films for safer traffic on the roads in Arctic Norway this summer
The Arctic Norway Tourist Board has laxunched two short information films that will contribute to safer traffic on the roads in Northern Norway in the summer season. The films have been developed in collaboration with Trygg Trafikk, the police and the car rental industry. Together, they have identified some of the common challenges associated with tourist traffic in the region, including high speeds, unsafe stops along the road and the lack of use of meeting places to let traffic pass

– Northern Norway offers fantastic driving experiences, but also roads and traffic conditions that many visitors are not used to. The aim of the films is to provide simple and concrete advice that makes travel safer, both for our guests and for the local population, says Siw Sandvik, Head of PR and Communications at the Arctic Norway Tourist Board.
The films are made with humor and a direct tone, rather than a moralizing finger. The ambition is to make important traffic information easy to understand, easy to remember, and hopefully also easy to follow.
The first film highlights the high level of fines in Norway. Many foreign visitors are unaware of how costly it can be to break traffic rules, especially speeding. The second film deals with considerate driving. It encourages drivers to actively use meeting points, let go of faster traffic when possible, and to stop in suitable places if they want to enjoy the view or take pictures.
The films are one of several measures the Arctic Norway Tourist Boardv is testing to contribute to safer traffic in the north. The short films are adapted for use in social media, and they will also be distributed through car rental companies to travelers who are going on the roads in the region.
The Arctic Norway Tourist Board this measure will contribute to better traffic flow, fewer dangerous situations and a safe experience for everyone traveling on the roads of Northern Norway this summer.
Both films are avaliable here and here.
