Arctic Paper and Rottneros have entered into an agreement on a joint venture, an investment of PLN 100 million in the production of moulded fiber trays. A 50/50-owned Polish company has been founded to establish production at Arctic Paper's Polish mill.

“We look forward to taking the next step in sustainable biodegradable packaging together with Rottneros. The investment is an important part of our strategic diversification”, says Michal Jarczyński, CEO of Arctic Paper S.A.

The investment is based on the use of joint competences and synergies. Rottneros contributes pulp and experience in the manufacture of fiber trays, while Arctic Paper lets premises in the existing plant advantageously located in Kostrzyn, Poland, close to the border with Germany.

Production capacity is expected to reach some 80 million units per year, and the company expects to achieve a turnover of around PLN 60 million when at full capacity. Production, which is planned to start at the end of 2023, will focus on high-barrier packaging, but also on packaging with simpler functional requirements.
