Interesting opportunity for wind power in Stjørdal municipality

Stjørdal municipality, which is adjacent to Trondheim municipality, has applied for permission to build a large battery factory in the municipality. Arise will therefore announce its plans to develop a new wind farm in the municipality, with approximately 30 turbines and an annual electricity production of approximately 600 GWh. The project is in an early development stage, and it is possible that the wind farm will be either larger or smaller when the planning process is complete. The plan is to build the wind farm in the area Vennafjellet, between Elvran og Tømra. It would represent an investment of NOK 2 billion. The wind farm could potentially be an energy provider for the battery factory.

Renewable electricity production is key to attracting new industrial investments, such as battery factories, data centres and hydrogen facilities. Likewise, renewable electricity production is essential to gradually reduce greenhouse gas emissions and counteract climate change.

We also believe that a wind farm will generate many local benefits in terms of job opportunities, tax incomes to the municipality and transactions with local businesses. 

Arise introduced the project to Stjørdal municipality 4 February, 2021.
