Aspera and Civolution integrate NexGuard watermarking with Orchestrator workflow automation
Combined technologies simplify protection of high-value content with seamless integration and operation of watermarking functions as part of a fully automated file-based workflow
Booth 7.K30 IBC2013, Amsterdam — September 5, 2013 — Aspera, Inc., creators of next-generation software technologies that move the world’s large data at maximum speed, and Civolution, the leading provider of technology and solutions for identifying, managing and monetizing content, today announced the integration of Civolution’s NexGuard forensic watermarking functions with Aspera’s Orchestrator workflow automation and management solution. The joint solution can be seen at IBC on Aspera booth 7.K30 and Civolution booth 2.A41.
Civolution’s NexGuard forensic marking applications offer both a deterrent against piracy and a forensic analysis tool in case piracy occurs. Solutions range from applications for pre-release content to integration in digital cinema, pay-tv and online media delivery systems. With NexGuard seamlessly integrated with Aspera Orchestrator, operators can incorporate watermarking into a file-based workflow using the rich visual designer, and execute the process automatically at run time, eliminating any manual steps. It ensures complete content protection.
A typical workflow for content ingest, processing, and delivery includes file transfer, transcoding and watermarking. Aspera’s fasp TM high-speed transfer platform enables secure ingest of high-value content, while the Aspera Orchestrator platform manages the end-to-end workflow, initiating parallel transcoding jobs followed by watermarking operations. Aspera’s Orchestrator can drive dedicated NexGuard watermarking resources as well as NexGuard watermarking functions integrated in transcoders. Each recipient receives a uniquely watermarked copy, like a serial numbering process on the video that is imperceptible to viewers. In addition to the actual embedding of an imperceptible watermark into a given copy of the video, the workflow also logs content description and recipient details in the NexGuard database. For additional customized operations, the NexGuard platform includes both SOAP and RESTful interfaces.
“Content protection is very important to our customers in media and entertainment,” said John Wastcoat, vice president business development at Aspera. “Civolution’s unique watermarking technology adds content protection to the final digital output so content owners can identify copies of their materials regardless of the format, resolution or location, and trace them back to the original source.”
“Customers want efficient workflows when delivering watermarked content,” said Jean-Michel Masson, senior vice president watermarking solutions at Civolution. “Aspera offers both high-speed transfer and seamless workflow management. Content owners, post-production facilities and distributors alike can automate fast and secure distribution of content.”
