Aspera to showcase advanced solutions for broadcast and digital media at IBC 2013
CEO and co-founder Michelle Munson to share how high-speed transport and automation are bridging the technology gap for new media workflows
EMERYVILLE, Calif., 21 August 2013— At IBC 2013 (stand 7.K30), Aspera, Inc., creators of next-generation software technologies that move the world’s data at maximum speed, will showcase high-speed data transfer and automation solutions, all part of its expansive software portfolio for deployment on premise, on the cloud, or in combination.
On Saturday, September 14 (11am - 12.30pm), Aspera CEO and co-founder Michelle Munson will discuss new media workflows that require end-to-end, customized and automated operations, often with a combination of cloud and on-premise storage, and powered by network transfer of large media file sets (the ultimate "big data"). She will share how new infrastructure-agnostic high speed transport and workflow automation technologies fill the technology gap, and are enabling these new workflows by allowing digital content to be securely and practically ingested, accessed, transcoded, distributed and archived regardless of storage type, network distance, and bandwidth conditions.
In conjunction with BT Sports, Aspera will also participate in a Workflow Solutions session on Friday, September 13 (1:00pm). With the arrival of BT Sports’ new sports channels and completion of their new studio complex in the former London 2012 Olympic International Broadcasting Centre, the session will explore BT’s use of Aspera's high-speed transfer technology, and how close collaboration culminated in full file-based replication between BT’s new studio facility and the BT Tower in central London. The solution delivered full redundancy, high-speed performance and multiple, fully automated file-based workflows.
Prior to the show opening, Andrea Di Muzio, Director of Professional Services at Aspera, will join the “IBC Preview: Cloud-based workflows” panel at the SVG Sports Production Summit, taking place at 5pm on September 12 at Beurs Van Berlange in Amsterdam.
IBC attendees are cordially invited to join two special networking events on the Aspera booth. The first taking place on Saturday, September 14, is to join the Aspera team for cocktails and hors-d’oeuvres, and to network with the broadcast and digital media community. This will take place at 5:30pm on the Aspera booth 7.K30. Then on Sunday, September 15 there will be an Akamai-sponsored cocktail reception at 5:30pm giving guests the opportunity to meet with key Akamai representatives and learn how Akamai is leveraging Aspera technology for their cloud-based storage and workflow solutions.
The entire suite of high-speed file transfer software will be available for product demonstrations on stand 7.K30:
Aspera Orchestrator – The Aspera file-based workflow automation platform has been enhanced with full failover support, integrated Active Directory and LDAP support, and multi-tenant capabilities. It also includes a new workflow editor with workflow checkout capabilities for team-based development, offers an expanded plug-in library for a host of leading transcoding, watermarking, quality control, antivirus, ad insertion, asset management and an application notifier which allows external applications to receive real-time progress updates from plug-ins.
Aspera On Demand – The platform as a service (PaaS) enables media companies and content service providers to use high-speed fasp™ transport to ingest and distribute large files to and from the Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Windows Azure clouds, and integrate their platforms into media services running in the cloud.
Aspera faspex™ and Aspera Shares – Web applications and transfer clients for fast, ad-hoc file exchange enable collaborative, person-to-person workflows spanning on-premise, cloud and hybrid deployments. The faspex and Shares solutions are uniquely designed to allow media files to be securely transferred between any storage locations (on premise or in cloud) on behalf of users or project groups with privacy, security and fine-grained access control. Aspera will demonstrate sending via faspex dropboxes to Aspera Shares destinations by workgroup, full SAML integration for single sign-on, and configurable distribution lists.
Aspera Sync – The high-performance (10-100X rsync), multidirectional file replication and synchronization solution for remote collaboration and disaster recovery scenarios offers full integration with Aspera Console for global visibility and control of sync sessions across the entire network, advanced file handling options such as file-level de-duplication eliminating unnecessary transfers and reducing storage use, and added support for OSX and Solaris in addition to Windows and Linux.
Aspera Drive - Aspera will preview high-speed synchronization from desktop to cloud with Aspera Drive. Completely integrated with the Aspera high-speed transfer platform, Aspera Drive offers integrated desktop and mobile browsing of remote files, drag-and-drop high-speed upload and download from cloud storage, background file synchronization, and sending and receiving of extremely large files and data sets at global distances for the ultimate secure file distribution experience.
faspex 4.0 – Aspera will preview faspex 4.0, a file sharing and package sending web application tier, which powers the Aspera Drive file-sharing ecosystem. A new project-based approach combines users and user groups with file and directory resources (“Shares”) into project collaboration spaces.
