SANTA CLARA, Calif., October 16, 2012Aspera, Inc., creators of next-generation software technologies that move the world’s data at maximum speed, will be participating at Storage Networking World (SNW) Fall 2012. As part of the big data conference track, Mike Flathers, chief technologist of the Aspera Developer Platform, will be speaking about transforming cloud infrastructure to support big data, as well as participating in a panel discussion on object storage for big data. Taking place October 16-19 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, the event focuses on the evolution of architecture for a new world of mobility, big data and business agility.

Organizations today must implement large-scale computing and networking infrastructures, select storage systems and integrate high-speed transport technologies to enable the global collection, distribution and sharing of enormous amounts of data. At the same time, new technologies for the movement and storage of big data are enabling increased collaboration over greater distances, much more efficiently and cost effectively than ever before. The storage of big data in the cloud drives economies of scale and fundamentally changes the parameters of data center design.

Flathers’ presentation, which will take place at 11.40am on Wednesday October 17, will educate attendees on how to overcome the technical bottlenecks that prevent organizations from realizing the benefits of the cloud for big data. It will discuss the principles of cloud object stores, best practices in orchestrating complex, large-scale big data workflows, and the requirements and challenges of on-premise, cloud and hybrid infrastructure designs.

At 3.50pm that day, Flathers will join spokespeople from Quantum, Intel, Amplidata and Panzura for a panel discussion on object storage, the new storage paradigm designed for massive volumes of unstructured data. Flathers will draw on Aspera’s experience with Amazon S3 and expertise in the media and entertainment and life sciences industries in a debate moderated by Robin Harris, chief analyst at StorageMojo.

Aspera experts will be running a series of workshops throughout the event as part of the Hands-On Lab organized in association with the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA). Participants will learn best practices for high-speed data access in private, public and hybrid cloud environments.

Aspera will also be providing attendees with full demonstrations across their product portfolio, including high-speed transfer solutions that are the gold standard for high-speed data transport whether on premise or through the cloud.
