Aspera Platforms Drive Next Generation Media Asset Management Systems

EMERYVILLE, Calif.—June 13, 2012—Aspera, Inc., creators of next-generation software technologies that move the world’s digital assets at maximum speed, today announced that Korea’s CJ PowerCast has chosen and deployed Aspera’s high-performance fasp™ transport and management technologies to automate and administer their digital asset systems.

A multifaceted Korean media and entertainment organization, CJ PowerCast is the industry leader in high-quality digital broadcasting services specializing in areas such as movies, sports, music, animation, lifestyle, and documentaries. The company operates a diverse range of cable, satellite and IPTV channels as well as regional TV stations. Adding to their reputation as one of the best global media companies, CJ PowerCast also offers an extensive range of post-production, digital advertising and content management services. To satisfy its vast requirements for file transfer and digital asset automation, CJ PowerCast selected the web-based Aspera Connect Server and Aspera Console management platform. They have been integrated into CJ PowerCast’s systems and portals using Aspera’s robust set of APIs to facilitate mission critical media asset exchange with partners in Asia, Europe and North America.

“We were first interested in Aspera because so many of our media partners already have large Aspera deployments and swear by the technology,” said CJ PowerCast’s senior research manager, Jaemin Hwang. “With over 1600 customers worldwide we knew that Aspera had an excellent reputation. But after conducting our proof of concept tests, we realized the reasons why: bulletproof security, perfect bandwidth utilization, and open APIs that let us quickly adapt fasp and the Aspera Connect Server into our existing infrastructure and live systems to run our business more efficiently.”

“CJ PowerCast has the kind of complex business use cases that we’re seeing from more and more of our global customer base,” said John Wastcoat, vice president at Aspera. “They need the ability to transfer, manage, report and automate from within their existing systems, and they need to do it quickly. Our diverse platform support and powerful—but very easy to use—APIs allow us to meet and exceed customer expectations, and continue growing the business at such a fast rate.”
