MediaCorp deploys Aspera to power digital media distribution
Aspera Connect and Console deliver high-speed content transfer and management for MediaCorp’s global distribution network
EMERYVILLE, Calif.—August 23, 2012—Aspera, Inc., creators of next-generation software technologies that move the world’s data at maximum speed, today announced that MediaCorp, Singapore’s leading media company, has deployed Aspera’s high-speed transfer platform as the core of its new digital asset distribution infrastructure.
Operating seven television and 13 radio channels, MediaCorp offers a complete range of platforms, spanning television, radio, newspapers, magazines, movies, digital and out-of-home media. MediaCorp needed a flexible platform for real-time collection and distribution of global news stories, as well as a means to quickly and efficiently transfer content to its global media distribution network.
MediaCorp selected the web-based Aspera Connect Server file transfer software to provide journalists with a simple, self-installing browser plug-in that initiates high-speed transfers from the field to MediaCorp headquarters. It also enables server-to-server media transfers with the 1700+ Aspera customer ecosystem that includes MediaCorp collaborators and partners.
Additionally, Aspera Console was chosen for centralized monitoring, management and reporting of MediaCorp’s company-wide Aspera transfers. MediaCorp administrators use its extensive features to initiate ad-hoc transfers, create specific scheduled transfers, as well as provide delivery confirmation all from one central web interface.
“Aspera’s technology is the industry standard because of the speed and predictability of the transfers,” said Kelvin Ma Jing, vice president of media technology architecture and support at MediaCorp. “Our content partners across the world already employ Aspera which means that we can quickly and easily share content with them much faster than shipping physical tape or transferring using other technologies.”
“MediaCorp is one of the most important broadcasters in Asia and we’re very proud to have been selected to provide their file transfer and workflow management software,” said John Wastcoat, vice president at Aspera. “They’re getting robust and easy to use software that’s making an immediate impact on their business.”
