Multi-campus Church Distributes Recorded Video Sermons at High Speed to Growing Audience

EMERYVILLE, Calif., February 12, 2013—Aspera, Inc., creators of next-generation software technologies that move the world’s large data at maximum speed, today announced that Trinity Fellowship, a multi-campus church, has expanded their deployment of Aspera’s patented fasp technology, upgrading to 100Mbps, to move recorded sermons from the church’s main location to existing and new satellite locations.

With campuses dispersed throughout Texas and Oklahoma, Trinity Fellowship utilizes video to deliver succinct, timely and relevant messages to every member of its extensive and expanding community. With time-sensitive content, often tied to specific events or holidays, Trinity was relying on Aspera technology to quickly deliver sermons in video form to every campus to ensure relevance. As Trinity Fellowship grew and added more campuses, it needed to scale its transfer capacity to efficiently distribute large video files to new and existing locations at maximum speed.

Trinity selected and deployed Aspera’s faspex™ server at the main site and Cargo Downloader clients at each satellite location, originally using a dedicated 45 Mbps network connection to transfer the recorded sermons – which are captured and edited at their central location – at maximum speed.

Using faspex’s workgroup feature, Trinity sends content to all remote locations at the same time without having to create and track a separate delivery for each location. Aspera Cargo at the satellite locations automatically downloads new deliveries to users’ desktops, and faspex’s built-in email notifications inform users that content has arrived, eliminating the need to log in to any systems and repeatedly check for transfer completion.

With Aspera, Trinity can capture high-quality content, edit the video footage, and distribute the final package to satellite campuses spread across a broad geography within only a few hours after the Saturday evening sermon concludes at the main campus, making it available for Sunday morning services at the satellite locations.

To support new locations Trinity upgraded their Aspera software license to 100Mbps to make full use of their networking infrastructure, allowing video content to be transferred at full bandwidth capacity and further shortening delivery times.

“We’re one body. We’re one church. We have one message, and we want everyone to hear it at once,” said Michael Wells, executive director of operations at Trinity Fellowship. “With Aspera, we can reach our audience without latency and know that our content is safe and won’t be lost or tampered with in transit.”

“Trinity Fellowship needed a transfer solution that could provide fast and reliable transfer of large video files; Aspera met their requirements,” said Richard Heitmann, vice president of marketing at Aspera. “Using Aspera, Trinity Fellowship is now able to incorporate more high definition (HD) video into their multimedia programs, an advancement that was not possible in the past due to slow and unreliable transfer speeds. We look forward to working with Trinity as they continue to expand and develop their video-driven strategy.”
