Aspiro develops Java-based Bluetooth stack Aspiro has developed a Bluetooth protocol stack written completely in Java. The stack is a first step towards creating commercially usable applications built on Bluetooth technology. It fits in well with Aspiro's other technical environments, the majority of which are built around Java. Aspiro regards Bluetooth as an important technology for the mobile environment of the future. For example, Bluetooth is ideal for developing m-commerce applications, which allow mobile phones to be used for financial transactions and making payments. Aspiro plans to launch commercially viable mobile services based on Bluetooth technology later this year. Among other things, the stack is currently being tested on Ericsson's R520m mobile phone. Aspiro aims to make the stack available as open source code so that other programmers will be able to benefit from its advantages to develop additional Bluetooth-enabled applications.
