Aspiro-owned Advox launches software for instant protection against e-mail virus Last Friday the e-mail virus "I LOVE YOU" was spread like wildfire across the world. Many companies were forced to shut down their e-mail servers for several hours in order to take protective measures. For faster precautions against future attacks, Advox -a company within the Aspiro group- launches an application which blocks up all suspect e-mails as soon as the virus is recognized. The new application - which is an additional application to the e-mail server Advox Omnigate- blocks all e-mail with attached files that have a certain name, for example "I Love You". This means that one can act immediately when a new virus is recognized and receive a temporary protection while awaiting an update of the ordinary anti-virus program. Omnigate already contains a function for scanning incoming e-mail based on separate anti-virus applications. The new additional application is a complement to this function. The unique feature of the new application is the possibility to act immediately and hence avoid closing down the company's e-mail traffic while awaiting an anti-virus updating which usually takes a couple of days. Price and availability The additional application costs SEK 790 plus VAT, and is available for immediate delivery.
