Caverion to implement Halsua and Ullava substations for Fingrid in Finland – supporting electricity self-sufficiency

Finland's transmission system operator Fingrid Oyj and Caverion have signed a major contract for the construction of Halsua and Ullava 400 kV substations. The contract is a turn-key delivery of both substations including extensive earth- and construction works, main equipment delivery, installation and commissioning activities.
“At Caverion, we are involved in all stages of the energy chain – from ensuring production, to energy transmission and consumption. Renewable energy projects, such as the ones we have worked in close partnership with Fingrid, play a major role in our service offering. We are happy to count on Fingrid’s continued trust and we are excited to be part of building a climate-friendly and energy-self-sufficient Finland”, says Kari Aalto, Head of Business, Industrial Projects and Infrastructure, Caverion Finland.
The project will be implemented during 2025-2027, and the substations will be taken into use in summer 2027.
The project aims to improve electricity transmission capacity in Finland and enable the construction of wind and solar power, which will contribute to achieving Finland’s climate goals and maintaining adequate electricity self-sufficiency in Finland.
