Assist America provides global emergency travel services for victim of Asiana plane crash

Princeton, NJ and Beijing, China—(July 16, 2013)—Assist America, Inc., a premier provider of emergency travel assistance services, announced today that they assisted a victim of the July 6th crash of Asiana Airlines Flight 214 in San Francisco. 

A woman who was on the flight as part of a larger tour group was an Assist America member through one of their Asian insurance clients in Beijing, China. When her husband learned of the crash and knew his wife was being taken to a local hospital for her injuries, he immediately contacted the Assist America 24-hour Operations Center to ask for their assistance. 

“As soon as the call came in, we sprang into action,” said Kip Gibbs, vice president of operations for Assist America. “We began monitoring the patient’s care, speaking to her treating doctors about the extent of her injuries and treatment plan and the anticipated timeframe for us to repatriate her back home. We were even able to send a local representative to the patient’s bedside in the middle of the night to help with translations and to bring her money and other necessities since her luggage was burned during the crash. She was very grateful to have someone from Assist America by her side during this traumatic time.”

Assist America’s medical team continues to monitor the patient’s recovery as she completes her physical therapy and will be by her side to assist her throughout her return trip home.
