astragon and weltenbauer. unveil road construction as new gameplay element
Moenchengladbach, August 17th, 2016 – Today, astragon Entertainment GmbH and weltenbauer. Software Entwicklung GmbH are happy to unveil a brand new gameplay feature for Construction Simulator 2 currently under development for iPhone®, iPad®as well as smartphones and tablets using Android™.
Road construction is a gameplay element fans have long desired and will further expand the range of tasks available in Construction Simulator 2 to include interesting missions such as the building of new roads and the rehabilitation of already existing routes. Thanks to astragon’s cooperation with the popular construction equipment manufacturer Caterpillar Inc. and its diverse range of machines the road construction feature will be implemented as true to reality as possible. When it comes to the construction of new roads, the first step is to prepare the ground. Here, the track-type dozer Cat® D8T will create a suitable surface. Building machines such as the Cat® 950M wheel loader and the Cat® 140M3 motor grader then help to create the necessary road foundation of grit and gravel. This foundation will be compressed by the Cat® CS56B single-drum compactor and then the asphalt paver Cat® AP1055F will apply the upper layers of asphalt. While the asphalt pavement is still hot it will undergo its final compression by the Cat® CB44B tandem vibratory roller.

The release of Construction Simulator 2 for iPhone®and iPad®as well as smartphones and tablets using Android™ is planned for the 4th quarter of 2016.
