ALMA Laureate Bart Moeyaert visits Sweden

The Belgian author Bart Moeyaert is coming to Sweden to accept the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. He will take part in a week of ALMA events from May 21–27, including a public lecture, school visits and a trip to Astrid Lindgren’s childhood home in Vimmerby. His visit will conclude with a ceremony at the Stockholm Concert Hall on May 27, in which H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria will present him the award.

Some of the events for the ALMA week in May 21–27:

May 21 (6.00 pm) Award Lecture at ABF-huset (Z-salen) in Stockholm. Free admission

May 22 Visit to Hjulsta Elementary in Tensta

May 23 Visit at Junibacken and The Swedish Academy for Children’s Books in Stockholm

May 24–25 Study visits to Astrid Lindgren’s school and Astrid Lindgren’s Näs in Vimmerby, including a public lecture

May 27 (6.00 pm) Award ceremony at the Stockholm Concert Hall: H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria presents the award and Minister for Culture and Democracy Amanda Lind will give a speech in honour of the laureate.

Born in Belgium in 1964, Bart Moeyaert is a multi-award winning author who has written for children and young people since his debut at age 19. His large and diverse body of work encompasses over fifty titles, ranging from picture books and YA works to poetry, plays, song lyrics, television screenplays and essays. His books have been translated into more than 15 languages.
