Embassy of Sweden and the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award at the Guadalajara International Book Fair
The Guadalajara International Book Fair, the most important publishing event in Ibero-America, will take place from November 29 to December 7, 2025. This year, the Embassy of Sweden in Mexico will participate together with the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award – the world’s largest award for children’s and young adult literature.
In a joint stand, the Embassy of Sweden in Mexico and the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award will showcase Sweden’s commitment to children’s literature and highlight the legacy of Astrid Lindgren. We warmly invite visitors to stop by and meet us at stand ÑÑ43.
Two Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award laureates – Isol and Jacqueline Woodson – will also attend the fair and take part in moderated talks. They will be available for interviews upon request.
Isol (Marisol Misenta), an Argentinian picture-book artist and illustrator, received the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in 2013. Isol creates picture books from the eye level of the child. Taking children’s clear view of the world as her starting point, she addresses their questions with forceful artistic expression and offers open answers.
Jacqueline Woodson, an American author of books for children, adolescents, and adults, received the award in 2018. In language as light as air, she tells stories of resounding richness and depth. She is best known for her memoir Brown Girl Dreaming.
