“Children and young people need to have access to literature that provides perspectives on the world and different cultures. This list of nominees displays fantastic range, quality and diversity,” said Boel Westin, chairperson of the jury.

The list of nominees includes authors, illustrators, storytellers and reading ambassadors from all over the world. It can serve as an entry point for anyone looking for new artists to discover or an international overview of children’s and YA literature. The list also includes reading ambassadors, whose work can inspire efforts to stimulate young people’s interest in reading.

Between now and the awards ceremony, the jury will evaluate the nominees’ work and decide on a winner.
