Nominees for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award 2021 to be announced

The nominees who are in the running for the world's largest prize for children's and young adult's literature (SEK 5m, USD 513k) will be official on October 21. The list for the 2021 award includes some of the world's foremost creators of literature for children and young people, as well as reading promoters. 

The names of the 263 nominees from 69 countries spread over 6 continents, are available on www.alma.se/en from October 21 at 1 pm CET. The list will be presented with facts and figures about the nominations.

The jury for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award is rewarding authors, illustrators, oral storytellers and reading promoters who have been nominated by organisations worldwide with an in-depth knowledge about literature for young readers and reading promotion.

The jury will announce the new laureate on Tuesday April 13, 2021. So far, twenty laureates have been rewarded for the Swedish award, most recently the Korean picture book maker Baek Heena (2020), the Belgian author Bart Moeyaert (2019) and the US author Jacqueline Woodson (2018).
