Wells Fargo is pleased to bring The Kinsey Collection: Shared Treasures of Bernard and Shirley Kinsey, Where Art and History Intersect to the city of Atlanta. The Kinsey Collection dispels myths and promotes dialogueabout African Americans in the making of America. It explores thehistoric, artistic, and cultural contributions and progress of African Americans through rare and historic artifacts, documents, books, letters, manuscripts, photographs and two- and three-dimensionalartwork by African American artists.

Meet the Past Gallery Performances

Nicholson Gallery, The Kinsey Exhibit

 Meet the Past transforms the visitor experience at the Atlanta History Center.By engaging in on-site activities, and debating and discussing with historicalinterpreters, visitors become personally involved in the region’s past.Bringing the past into the present, the Atlanta History Center frees hiddenvoices of history to teach a more complete story about the diversity of theAmerican South.

Performance by Atlanta Music Project’s South Bend Wind Orchestra

Kennedy Theatre, Atlanta History Museum, 12:00 PM 

Founded in 2010, the Atlanta Music Project (AMP) is a non-profitorganization providing intense music education to underserved youthright in their neighborhood with a mission to inspire social change byproviding Atlanta’s underserved youth the opportunity to learn and performmusic in orchestras and choirs. 

An Afternoon of Art and Legacy

Woodruff Auditorium, McElreath Hall, 2:00 - 4:00 PM 

Meet Bernard, Shirley, and Khalil Kinsey as they present and discuss theirdistinguished collection of four centuries of African American art andhistorical artifacts, and come away with a deeper understanding andappreciation of a rich cultural heritage.  This program is moderated by Lisa Frison, African American SegmentManager, Wells Fargo, and will be followed by an exhibition tour and booksigning with the Kinsey family in the main museum building. Copies of The Kinsey Collection book are available for purchase in ourmuseum shop and in the McElreath Hall Atrium.

Explore African American history and culture through a wide range ofcrafts and activities for family audiences. 

Smith Family Farm 

Meet the Past as you visit a Piedmont Georgia farm facing the challenges ofthe Civil War home front. As you explore the farm site, you may participate inthe daily tasks or past times, and will meet characters portraying the family,neighbors, enslaved workers, and friends.
