HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Sheep Shearing Demonstrations: The annual shearing of a sheep’s wool marks the coming of spring. The Atlanta History Center’s staff participates in this traditional activity on our working 1860s Smith Family Farm, and invites visitors to watch as the sheep shed their winter coats.
  • Petting Zoo: Be sure to stop by the petting zoo, complete with a variety of barnyard animals!
  • Craft Activities: The wide array of crafts available for all age groups creates a complete understanding of the process of cloth making through interactive spinning, weaving, and dyeing activities. Also available are pottery making, candle dipping, basket weaving, and more.
  • Cooking Demonstrations: Demonstrations will show the difference between the ingredients and styles of cooking used by those who owned the farm and those who worked for them.
  • Musical Performances: No Southern celebration of spring would be complete without traditional bluegrass and folk music performed by Georgia natives.
  • Delicious food and beverages for purchase from the Coca Cola Café serving a limited Chick-fil-a menu. Additionally, enjoy Phickles Pickles and Honseysuckle Gelato.
