Atlas Copco appoints new VP Corporate Responsibility

Stockholm, Sweden May 28 2013: Atlas Copco has appointed Mala Chakraborti Vice President Corporate Responsibility from July 1, 2013. She replaces Karin Holmquist, who from the same date will head the role as Vice President Group Internal Audit and Assurance.

Mala Chakraborti, who is an Indian citizen, began at Atlas Copco in 2012 as Corporate Responsibility Coordinator working with sustainability presentations, trainings, reporting in accordance to GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), as well as with issue management such as conflict minerals. Prior to this she made her master’s thesis for Atlas Copco in 2011 on developing an integrated annual report.

“Mala has the drive, knowledge and communication skills to strengthen Atlas Copco’s solid sustainability work further,” said Annika Berglund, Senior Vice President Corporate Communications. “She has a good understanding of the challenges global corporations are facing when doing business in different markets, after having lived and studied on three different continents.”

Mala has a B.Sc. in Biotechnology from the Kasturba Medical College, India, 2005, a M.Sc. Biochemistry from Dartmouth College in the U.S., 2010, and a M.Sc. General Management from Stockholm School of Economics, Sweden, 2012. She is fluent in English, Bengali and Hindi and speaks Swedish on an advanced intermediate level.
