Atlas Copco opens U.S. manufacturing plant
Stockholm, Sweden, May 17, 2017: Atlas Copco, a leading provider of sustainable productivity solutions, today inaugurates a manufacturing plant in the United States that will increase productivity for construction customers and boost safety for hospitals.
Atlas Copco has invested MUSD 25 (MSEK 220) in the brand-new factory in Rock Hill, South Carolina, United States. The plant will manufacture portable compressors and generators for the construction market, as well as medical gas products for hospitals. Some 330 employees will work at the facility.
“This state-of-the-art factory will improve our production capabilities, enhancing productivity for our customers in North America,” said Andrew Walker, President of the Construction Technique business area.
Atlas Copco moved these operations from another facility in Rock Hill to this new building, which achieved a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design certification. The building incorporates lean manufacturing that enables efficient and flexible processes that are especially productive and environmentally sustainable. The new facility includes the U.S. customer center.
