Stockholm, Sweden, June 7, 2016: Atlas Copco, a leading provider of sustainable productivity solutions, has agreed to acquire Bondtech, a Swedish supplier of dispensing equipment for adhesives and sealants used by automotive manufacturers.

Bondtech is a division within Teamster AB, based in Gothenburg, Sweden, which produces and sells adhesive and sealant dispensing equipment used by automotive manufacturers.  Bondtech has 12 employees and had revenues in 2015 of about MSEK 32 (MUSD 3.8).

Adhesives are an assembly technology of the future that is increasingly embraced by the automotive industry,” said Mats Rahmström, President of Atlas Copco’s Industrial Technique business area. “Bondtech’s team has great expertise and a strong presence in the Nordic market.”

Adhesives are increasingly used by automotive manufacturers that want to use mixed materials instead of steel to make the vehicles more fuel efficient. Traditional welding can be difficult with the lighter materials, opening up for alternative assembly technologies. Bondtech’s technology is similar to that of Atlas Copco SCA, a market leader in this field.

The acquisition is expected to be completed during the second quarter.

The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The acquired business will become part of the Industrial Assembly Solutions division in Atlas Copco’s Industrial Technique business area.
