Atlas Tube / JMC Steel Group to Host Lunch & Learn Presentation to Celebrate SteelDay 2012
CHICAGO (August 29, 2012) — Atlas Tube, a division of JMC Steel Group, announced it will host a free Lunch & Learn event on Friday, September 28, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., as part of SteelDay 2012, an annual event for the design / construction industry sponsored by the American Institute of Steel Contractors (AISC).
SteelDay is the steel industry’s largest educational and networking event, and provides AISC professionals, students and the public with an opportunity to learn more about the structural steel supply chain. Free nationwide events are hosted by AISC members and partners.
Atlas Tube’s Lunch & Learn presentation, “Manufacturing Hollow Structural Sections (HSS),” will be presented by Brad Fletcher, senior sales engineer at Atlas Tube, at the JMC Steel Group headquarters in downtown Chicago.
“SteelDay is a great opportunity for those interested in steel construction to learn more about how HSS is produced and its remarkable design potential,” said Fletcher. “Produced in round, square and rectangular shapes, sizes and gauges, HSS is used as a structural element in architecture and in a wide variety of manufactured products.”
Presentation topics will include the HSS manufacturing process, quality control and testing, ASTM standards, general uses and applications of HSS, and more.
