ATRIA EXPANDS ITS CONVENIENCE FOODS BUSINESS

As the market for pre-made meal solutions is seeing strong growth, Atria will 
establish a new production unit for the manufacture of HMR products (Home Meal 
Replacement). The quality of HMR foods matches that of home-made meals and as 
such they are different from traditional convenience foods.

The unit will be established in Karkkila and it will operate as part of Atria 
Oy's Meat Product and Convenience Food Industries. Atria owns a property 
suitable for the unit in Karkkila. The town of Karkkila is close to the largest 
population centres of Southern Finland, and thus the unit will be well situated 
for the manufacture of HMR products – for one thing, the shelf life of the 
products can be shorter.

The unit's main products will be various pre-made meal solutions, such as over-
the-counter products, pre-prepared portions and bread products. The products can 
be sold to vendors such as supermarket service counters, workplace cafeterias 
and event caterers.

The unit will go into production by the beginning of 2005. It is expected that 
it will initially employ 20-30 people in its production operations.
