Atria invests EUR 5 million in streamlining production and logistics in Sweden
Atria Scandinavia will commence a streamlining and coordination of its
production and logistics during autumn 2009. The main aim is to create a clearer
range of delicatessen products for Atria's customers through improved
coordination, reducing costs and unnecessary environmental impact. In total, 107
employees will be made redundant at five sites. The changes will result in a net
reduction of 77 employee positions.
At present, similar production is spread across a number of different sites and
plants, significantly reducing efficiency. The planned coordination means that
production for Ridderheims and Gourmet Service will be moved to the plant in
Kinna and that a joint warehouse and logistics centre for Ridderheims,
Falbygdens Ost and Gourmet Service will be based in Gothenburg. The Gourmet
Service plant in Stockholm and the Falbygdens cheese plant in Stenstorp will be
closed.
Streamlining and coordinating production and logistics will give Atria Deli a
stronger, clearer range of delicatessen products while at the same time reducing
our costs. The resources freed up will be invested in increased innovation and
brand building measures, allowing us to grow faster both in Sweden and in other
markets.
Negotiations have commenced with the trade unions concerned.
