ATRIA'S SUMMER SALES IMPROVE SIGNIFICANT
Atria Group plc STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 9 AUGUST 2004 10:10
ATRIA'S SUMMER SALES IMPROVE SIGNIFICANTLY
Despite the cold and rainy weather, Atria's summer sales improved significantly.
This summer the meat industry's total market grew 4% in value compared to last
summer (May, June and July). Atria's sales developed significantly better than
the market overall. In a growing market Atria increased its market share among
manufacturers by one market share unit to 24.8%.
Atria's sales growth came mainly from sales of grilling sausage. Atria's market
share of Class A sausages rose to 40% and its market share of traditional
sausages was 45.6%. From the early summer on, Atria's Wilhelm Perinteinen
traditional sausage became the best selling grilling sausage in terms of value.
In addition, there was strong growth in sales of retail-packed meat and cold
cuts. Atria's market share of retail-packed meat was 27% (24% in summer 2003)
and its market share of cold cuts was 22% (21.4% in summer 2003).
Atria's delivery reliability also remained excellent throughout the summer.
Atria Group plc will publish its result for the first six months of the
financial year on Wednesday 18 August 2004.
