Tyre specialist ATS Euromaster has signed a two year deal with independent wheel distributor Motor Wheel Service (MWS) aimed at more than doubling ATS Euromaster’s share of the UKcommercial vehicle wheel market by the end of 2013.

Thanks to its agreement with MWS, ATS Euromaster will now be able to offer a one-stop service to commercial vehicle fleets, meeting both their tyre and wheel needs. ATS Euromaster is not new to supplying wheels to truck, bus and coach fleets, supplying around 7,000 such wheels in 2011. The deal with MWS will increase ATS Euromaster’s wheel stock, with MWS also providing technical support and training, better positioning ATS Euromaster as a key supplier in this market.

“There are almost four million commercial vehicle wheels on the country’s roads, and over 200,000 of those wheels need replacing due to wear or damage in a given year,” says Peter Fairlie, Group Sales Director for ATS Euromaster. “Fleets already trust us with their tyre needs, so it makes sense for us to move further into the wheel market, and for our customers to save time and money by consolidating their wheel and tyre supply needs with us.”

Most of the wheels ATS Euromaster replaced last year were as a result of the company’s mobile technicians finding that a wheel needed replacing during roadside tyre replacement, or during a fleet inspection.

“This deal means we can be more proactive in serving our customers’ wheel needs, and that customers can take care of everything with us,” Fairlie says.

ATS Euromaster is aiming to more than double its share of the replacement wheel market by the end of next year, and will offer a range of premium, mid-range and budget steel and alloy wheels from a variety of manufacturers. About two thirds of commercial vehicle replacement wheels sold annually in theUKare made of steel, with alloys making up most of the rest. ATS Euromaster will also offer a selection of specialist wheels.

“We chose MWS not only for their competitive pricing and broad product range, but because they are able to offer market insight and advice on stocking,” Fairlie says. “We’re delighted to be rolling forward into this market with a company we trust.”

John Ellis, Managing Director of MWS, explains: “Over the last few years we’ve been campaigning extensively for increased safety checks on commercial vehicles’ wheels.  This new relationship with ATS Euromaster reinforces our belief that wheels should be supplied and inspected by professional organisations employing skilled technicians.

“I am confident that by working in partnership with ATS Euromaster, we will be able to jointly improve the safety of theUK’s extensive commercial vehicle parc.”
