KEEP YOUR DRIVERS AND VEHICLES SAFE THIS WINTER WITH A VEHICLE HEALTH CHECK, ADVISES ATS EUROMASTER

With winter just around the corner, ATS Euromaster is advising fleet managers to ensure their vehicles are properly prepared for adverse conditions with a £20, 20-point vehicle health check.
Available at ATS Euromaster centres across the country, the vehicle health check covers fluid levels, tyre tread depth, tyre condition, tyre pressure, primary brake inspection, battery, exhaust, shock absorbers, oil, lights, windscreen wipers and screen wash.

Plunging temperatures and poor weather conditions adversely affect road conditions and generally mean that the number of vehicle breakdowns and accidents will more than double throughout the winter months. With intervals between scheduled services increasing on modern vehicles, ATS Euromaster’s check provides a key interim health and safety inspection by expert technicians. Wet and icy conditions also increase the risk of accidents, meaning it’s essential that tyres are in an excellent all-round condition, have sufficient tyre depth and are inflated to the correct pressure to reduce that risk. Plus, in cold conditions, vehicles can burn up to a litre of oil per 1,000 miles, and it is vital that the correct levels of anti-freeze are used, so carrying out a thorough check can help prevent minor issues becoming major catastrophes.
In addition to a vehicle health and safety check, fleet managers are also encouraged to look at the type of tyres fitted to their fleet. Michelin’s new CrossClimate tyre range is the first to be certified for both summer and winter use. The tyres, which alleviate the perceived hassles associated with fitting two different sets of tyres, are ideally suited to the UK fleet sector, where unexpected weather changes and occasional snowfall can cause havoc for company car drivers – resulting in costly business interruption and reduced mobility, plus an increased risk of accidents.
