NEW TYRE POLICY OFFERS HB HOLT & SONS PROTECTION FROM HIGH TYRE PRICES
10 August 2012
East Yorkshire-based haulier HB Holt & Sons has appointed ATS Euromaster in a move to secure consistent and competitive tyre pricing nationwide for its fleet of 50 trucks and 74 trailers. The agreement will see Taurus tyres fitted, as wear dictates, backed up by 24/7 access to emergency roadside assistance via a single freephone number.
HB Holt & Sons previously sourced tyres from independent tyre dealers. This meant that in the event of a tyre failure away from base, the haulier had to locate a supplier and was prone to being charged the highest retail prices. Brand availability in such instances also varied; being driven by dealer stock rather than the customer’s defined fitment policy.
Eddie Holt, Managing Director of Howden-based HB Holt & Sons, a Palletforce founder member, says: “Our previous supplier offered good local support, but we were left at the mercy of tyre dealers charging us significant sums if we ran into problems outside Yorkshire.
“When you are stuck at the roadside, miles from home and needing only one tyre, you’re not in the best position to secure the most competitive deal. You are also restricted to fitting whatever brand of tyre that dealer has on the shelf.”
The appointment of ATS Euromaster means HB Holt & Sons will benefit from an agreed national pricing structure and consistent brand policy adherence; Taurus tyres are stocked in all ATS Euromaster truck centres. They will also enjoy access to the largest mobile tyre fitting fleet in the UK, with technicians from the local Selby centre carrying out all routine tyre service work on-site; plus 24/7 roadside rapid response for tyre-related emergencies nationwide.
“Punctures are a fact of life when you have a fleet collectively covering more than six million kilometres a year. But knowing precisely what we’ll pay in the event of a tyre failure, no matter where our vehicle is, is a major benefit.
“We’ll be putting ATS Euromaster to the test over the coming months and monitoring our tyre expenditure closely. We’re confident this new policy will help to reduce running costs and make our fleet even more efficient,” he adds.
The HB Holt & Sons fleet ranges from 7.5 tonne rigids to 44 tonne artics, with a mix of bodywork and trailers enabling cargos to vary from palletised goods to temperature-sensitive loads. A striking red and green company livery is supplemented by select vehicles running in the colours of Wren Kitchens, for which the company operates a series of two-man home delivery teams across the UK.
Taurus truck tyres are manufactured by the Michelin Group and available to suit all sizes of commercial vehicle. They are available in the UK exclusively from ATS Euromaster.
