Attana and Mario Negri Research Institute have signed a research agreement
The aim to evaluate and exploit the potential of Attana QCM technology to investigate scientific issues difficult to evaluate otherwise.
Attana and the teams of Dr. Marco Gobbi and Dr. Stefano Fumagalli have recently collaborated in the frame of the EU-funded research project NanoCarb. One of their students (Dr. Gizem Erol) visited Attana and performed successful experiments on the effects of hypoxic conditions (mimicking those occurring after stroke) on the properties of brain endothelial cells, with very interesting results. In particular, it was found that hypoxia caused a significant increase in the expression of specific lectin binding domains on the brain endothelial cells (figure below). This result formed the basis for this new agreement where Attana technology will be further applied in this and other research projects at the Mario Negri Institute.
The agreement will last at least 12 months, and the contract enables Attana to provide Mario Negri Institute with an Attana Cell™ 250 instrument during the period.
Dr. Gobbi comments: “The Attana Cell™ 250 instrument enables biologically relevant, label-free and fast interaction studies in cells and tissue slices which could represent a significant added value for our studies”.
Dr. Teodor Aastrup comments: “We have had a fruitful collaboration with Mario Negri Institute´s team and are looking forward to all fascinating experiments in their pipeline.”
