AU-System and Axis co-operate on Bluetooth

AU-SYSTEM AND AXIS CO-OPERATE ON BLUETOOTH Stockholm, Sweden - November 21, 2000 - AU-System has received an order from Axis Communications with regard to consulting services for Bluetooth applications. The assignment will focus on services relating to Axis' access point for Bluetooth , Axis 9010, which will shortly be launched on the market. The value of the order is estimated at approximately SEK 3 million. "Axis was involved in producing products based on Bluetooth at an early stage and is one of the world's leading suppliers of system solutions and products for Internet-based mobile services," says Tomas Franzén, President and CEO of AU-System. "This makes the agreement very exciting to us." The business partnership will involve AU-System and Axis studying solutions for roaming between Internet suppliers. The two companies will also develop an application programming interface, API, for Axis' access point for Bluetooth. The interface will enable third party developers to produce new services. "The co-operation with AU-System is part of our efforts to ensure that we offer the best possible solutions for local mobile access networks," says Torbjörn Wård, Head of the Axis Mobile Internet Division. The access point for Bluetooth, which will be launched before the end of this year, will complement the mobile systems of today and the future by offering local broadband access to the Internet, wireless IP telephony and other services.
