AU-System establishes new office in Thailand Stockholm, September 8, 2000 - AU-System today announced that the company continues its international expansion and will establish a new office in Bangkok, Thailand. The office is expected to open in October. "The decision to open an office in Thailand is based on customer demand. AU- System has already been working with the Thai mobile operator AIS in launching the country's first Mobile Internet service," says Tomas Franzén, President & CEO of AU-System. The AIS Mobile Internet service, called MobileLIFE, currently allows subscribers to perform banking services using a mobile phone. AU-System was responsible for the integration of services, end-to-end security and the implementation of functions on the Subscriber Identity Module, also known as the SIM card. "The AIS solution is using the framework we used in developing the world's first end-to-end secure mobile stock trading solution for Singapore Telecom," says Mack Palomäki, Managing Director of AU-System in Singapore. This project considerably raised our profile on the Asian market and the Thailand office is needed to meet the strong customer demand." In addition to AU-System, the AIS project has also included Ericsson, who contributed the service platform, and the Thai bank, SCB, responsible for carrying out the transactions. This autumn the MobileLIFE solution will be in a position to offer a wide range of services, such as ticket purchase and payment for consumer goods.
