Vienna, 25 April — Aurobay, a leader in powertrain technology, today launches its Power Delivery Units (PDU), designed to efficiently extend the range, and enhance the charging capabilities of electric vehicles.

These advanced onboard electric generators, which integrate seamlessly with both new and existing vehicle architectures, dramatically reduce dependency on traditional charging stations and promote wider adoption of EV technology.

“Our Power Delivery Unit is a pragmatic solution designed to address the real challenges in electric vehicle design and functionality,” said Michael Fleiss, Deputy CEO of Aurobay. “By enabling vehicles to charge on the move, we are making EVs more practical and appealing, ultimately facilitating a shift in how they are perceived and used.”

First presented at the Vienna Motor Symposium in 2023, the Power Delivery Unit represents Aurobay's commitment to developing functional and adaptable technologies.

“The Vienna Motor Symposium, which is one of the world’s most important powertrain conferences, is the perfect setting to introduce the commercial version of our Power Delivery Unit,” added Fleiss. “Our presence here highlights our dedication to innovation and our strategic role in shaping the future of transportation.”

The Aurobay Power Delivery Unit combines an internal combustion engine with an E-drive generator to create a versatile auxiliary power unit. This system is designed to connect directly to the vehicle’s high voltage battery, augmenting its charge during travel and reducing stops for recharging. The flexibility of the unit allows for installation as a standalone system or integration into existing vehicle frameworks, making it adaptable for a broad range of automotive applications.

Strategic Benefits of Aurobay Power Delivery Unit

  • Enhanced range and uptime: By supplementing battery chargeon the go, the Power Delivery Unit extends vehicle range andensures fewer interruptions due to charging, crucial for commercialtransport and fleet operations.
  • Fuel compatibility: Supports alternative fuels, aligning withglobal efforts to reduce vehicle emissions and advance towards netzero targets.
  • Cost and weight efficiency: Facilitates the use of smaller, lighter, and less expensive batteries within electric vehicles.

“Aurobay’s Power Delivery Unit technology has been developed to meet the dynamic needs of modern transportation, emphasizing reliability and adaptability. Our extensive testing, coupled with the positive feedback from last year’s symposium, have proven the Power Delivery Unit's viability and its capacity to help the industry meet its goals effectively,” said Mattias Berglund, Executive Vice President- Strategy and Alliances, at Aurobay.

From today, vehicle manufacturers and fleet operators are invited to place orders for prototype Power Delivery Units and to discuss their requirements for mass production.
