Aurobay and AB Volvo have entered into a five-year "build-to-print" contract, where Aurobay will supply camshafts for AB Volvo’s truck engines. "This agreement serves as a testament to our capabilities as a partner to vehicle manufacturers," says Michael Fleiss, Deputy CEO, Aurobay, and CEO, Aurobay in Sweden (Powertrain Engineering Sweden AB).

The contract, to manufacture camshafts for heavy-duty truck engines, is Aurobay’s second in the powertrain component market. "Our strength as a component supplier, and ability to meet the high demands and expectations of this customer, were recognized as we won this business following fierce competition," says Petra Odenman, Executive Vice President, Sales & Market.

"This is part of AB Volvo's transformation journey, where expansion space is needed for new products. We are pleased that the production of camshafts is staying in Skövde, it is proof of the strength of Skaraborg's collaboration and industry," says Plant Manager at Volvo Group Skövde, Rickard Lundberg.

The agreement means that Aurobay will reuse manufacturing machines from AB Volvo. This is an example of how Aurobay work together with its partners to re-use as much existing equipment as possible to maximize the utilization of machinery before scrapping and to avoid expensive investments – a technical collaboration that will help to reduce our environmental impact.

The goal is for Aurobay to take over AB Volvo’s camshaft manufacturing and be ready to start production during the first quarter of 2025.

"The camshafts will be manufactured from rod blank to a finished camshaft in a dedicated production line. The project is currently underway. There are many activities underway, including knowledge transfer from the customer," says Bjarne Hammar, Plant Manager, Aurobay Skövde factory.
