Shell Birchington is the newest forecourt in the UK to welcome LPG from Autogas Limited, which research shows has better environmental credentials than petrol or diesel.

In fact, one of the main benefits is that LPG produces fewer harmful emissions that impact on local air quality, so north-east Kent residents and motorists can now ‘breathe easy’ with LPG available on their doorstep at the newly rebranded site.

“Most petrol cars can be converted to run on LPG so motorists wanting to help the planet, and in particular improve local air quality, might want to consider this in the future.

“And of course the other major attraction is that LPG is so much cheaper than petrol and it’s not unusual to see annual fuel savings of up to 40 per cent,” said Paul Oxford, business development manager, Autogas Limited.

But it’s not just private motorists who can reap the benefits of the cheaper and cleaner fuel.

“The monetary saving aspect of LPG is also very attractive to local businesses wanting to reduce their operating costs, such as taxis or delivery firms, especially in tough economic times.

“So while we expect demand for Autogas to be extremely strong from car owners, it’s also likely to prove popular with local businesses who can benefit from reduced running costs,” added Oxford.

LPG powered cars are Bi-fuel, meaning they can seamlessly change between LPG and petrol at the flick of a switch if required.

And while LPG is new to Shell Birchington, there are actually more than 1,400 LPG refuelling sites across the UK, making it readily available to the 160,000 motorists enjoying the benefits of cheaper motoring. It is also easily obtainable across Europe for those motorists going further afield.
