Avnet Memec to show new energy harvesting and renewable energy technologies at electronica 2012
Presence also addresses building / home automation, communication and industrial automation design
Poing, Germany, 26th September 2012 – Visitors to Avnet Memec (A5.476) at electronica (Munich, November 13-16) will be presented with exciting new technologies to support energy harvesting and renewable energy applications – as well as the opportunity to win a teddy bear and dev kit in a fairground game. Further sections of its booth address design for the fast growing building / home automation, communication and industrial automation fields, as well as logistical and value-added services.
The new technology section of the Avnet Memec electronica stand presents solutions for Near Field Communication, wind and solar energy and energy harvesting applications. These include dedicated Power Management ICs from Maxim as well as a complete system for charging and protecting micropower-storage cells for energy harvesting. Silicon Labs digital isolator solutions are also being featured. These devices offer ultra-low power consumption and reliability unachievable with optocouplers. Also being presented are current sensors, diodes and IGBT modules and powerful MCUs from Silicon Labs and Renesas for control applications.
Appealing to visitors‘ softer side, the Avnet Memec fairground game allows visitors 30 seconds to grab a teddy bear. If successful, they not only get to keep it but they also get a free evaluation kit either from Energy Micro, Intersil, Maxim, Microsemi, Renesas or Silicon Labs - according to the teddy's shirt.
Centrepiece of the Avnet Memec building and home automation presentation will be LonWorks® solutions from Echelon. LonWorks technology, an open ISO/IEC standard used throughout the world, allows nodes on smart building and other control networks to interwork even if they come from different companies and developers. This section of the Avnet Memec stand will also feature a full set of wired and wireless solutions for intelligent control of heating and air conditioning, lighting, home appliances and electrical installation as well as metering applications.
Processing and communication technologies being presented include Ethernet switches for embedded, SOHO and enterprise applications from Marvell and optical transceivers, transponders and active optical cables from Finisar. Powerful ARM and PowerPC based processors, PCI-Switches, bridges and wireless solutions will also be featured.
On the industrial automation side, Avnet Memec is particularly focusing on IO-Link solutions from Maxim and Renesas for Sensor applications. Also being shown are PoE Solutions and a comprehensive portfolio of MCU solutions from low cost to high end from Energy Micro, Renesas Electronics and Silicon Labs.
The fifth section of the Avnet Memec electronica stand will offer information about its brand new warehouse and the logistical and value added services it offers. These include programming services for the full range of programmable and FPGA products offered by Avnet Memec. Its Tape and Reel and Inspection services cover repacking product from trays and tubes onto reels as well as unreeling product and repacking it onto trays or tubes. Prototyping support encompasses the supply of ready-to-use components in the shortest possible time – for a prototype, a small evaluation batch or a full production run.
