The two distributors of parts for heavy vehicles are acquired by Europart, a German provider of commercial vehicle spare parts with operations in 27 countries.

The strategic rationale behind the transaction is Europart’s interest in growing its market presence in Sweden where the company currently has six branch offices. Europart has annual sales of 412 MEUR and 1 600 employees.

Trailereffekter and LVD have 16 branch offices throughout Sweden, annual revenue of 264 MSEK and 93 employees.

“The global market for commercial vehicle spare part distribution is consolidating. Size and economies of scale are becoming fundamental prerequisites for large distributors and manufacturers serving international markets. Trailereffekter and LVD are successful distributors with extensive sales networks. By teaming up with Europart, the companies will become part of a market leading company with a clear growth strategy”, says Mats R. Karlsson, CEO and President, Axel Johnson International AB.

The agreement on the sale of Trailereffekter AB and LVD Lastvagnsdelar Svenska AB to Europart i Sverige AB was signed January 29. The transaction will be concluded during March, 2016, pending clearance from competition authorities in Sweden.
