Axfood has acquired the Vi Menyn stores in Taby and Jakobsberg. The stores, which will be taken over on 1 September 2005, have combined net sales of SEK 225 m. The stores will be converted to Hemköp. “Axfood is continuing the work already begun on strengthening its position in the Stockholm region while at the same time increasing the share of wholly owned stores,” says Anders Nyberg, head of Business Development at Axfood AB. “The stores in Täby and Jakobsberg are successful, they have very attractive shopping mall locations, and they will considerably strengthen Hemköp in the Stockholm market.” The stores, which will be taken over as per 1 September 2005, have combined net sales of SEK 225 m and will be converted to Hemköp after coming into Axfood’s possession. Following these takeovers, Hemköp will have 13 stores in the Stockholm area. The employees will be transferred to Hemköp in connection with the takeover. Since October last year Axfood has acquired eight former Vivo stores and entered into cooperation arrangements with three proprietor-run former Vivo stores, with combined net sales of approximately SEK 855 m.
