Axfood’s logistics company Dagab has received the eco-award ‘Climate Comet of the Year’. The award is given by Green Cargo to a company that has made major improvements to the climate impact of its logistics.

The award was accepted by Axfood’s Head of Environment, Åsa Domeij, and Transport Manager Anders Endertorp from Dagab at a seminar on Sustainable Logistics in Stockholm yesterday.

“It’s great to see Dagab receiving this recognition of its active climate work. This will spur Dagab to keep going and help Axfood achieve its goal of reducing the environmental impact of its activities by 75 percent by 2020,” comments Åsa Domeij.

Green Cargo explained its choice as follows:
“Dagab now moves its shipments from Italy to Gothenburg by rail. The company works consistently to create sustainable logistics and seeks out intermodal solutions for freight in Sweden. Goods travel the long distances by rail, before being taken to their final destination by road. Dagab’s large trailers already head from Gothenburg to Stockholm by train. Dagab presses train companies in Sweden and on the Continent to deliver transport solutions of high quality and low environmental impact. That is why they have been named Green Cargo’s ‘Climate Comet of the Year 2011’.”
