Thomas Gäreskog appointed as new President of Hemköp
Thomas Gäreskog has been appointed as the new President of Hemköp. Thomas Gäreskog has depth and breadth of experience from the food retail sector. He has been a Hemköp employee for two years, serving most recently as director of sales.
Thomas Gäreskog has been working in the food retail sector since 1983. He has solid knowledge of the business and has served, among other things, as a store manager for various stores in Uppsala. He has also held several key positions with ICA.
“In a short time we have seen clear examples of Thomas's breadth of competence, in which he has drawn from his extensive experience of the industry and good leadership qualities,” comments Anders Strålman, President and CEO of Axfood.
“It feels very inspiring to take on the role of President of Hemköp”, says Thomas Gäreskog. “I will maintain the strategy that has led to the positive development during the previous years.”
Anders Strålman has been serving as acting President of Hemköp since August of this year alongside his duties as President and CEO of Axfood AB. Thomas Gäreskog will assume his position as President of Hemköp immediately and will be a member of Axfood's Executive Committee.
