Axis announced by Frost & Sullivan as Market Leader in Growing Network Camera, Video Server Market

Axis Communications announced today that top research firm Frost & Sullivan has recognized the company as leading the growing global network camera and video server market. Frost & Sullivan also awarded Axis the 2001 Market Engineering Leadership Award for the global network camera market.

The Award is based on data derived form an end-user survey conducted by Frost & Sullivan The survey found Axis to be the definitive market leader with 69 percent of the total network camera market and 27 percent of the total video server market. The combined global network camera and video server market is expected to reach approximately $399 million by 2003 and $791 million by 2005. This is up from $73 million in 2000 - in total a ten-fold increase in five years. In the network camera segment, the survey found that Axis has 37 percent market share in security applications and 84 percent share in general IT applications such as Web attraction and remote monitoring. The survey also noted that Axis has 50 percent brand awareness, making the company the most widely recognized and dominating brand name in the PC-independent network camera market. "Axis has quickly become a dominating force in the fast growing network camera market," said Chris Cherrington, Frost & Sullivan consultant analyst. "The company has taken its initial lead in Web attraction and has successfully emerged as a leader in the increasingly important security and surveillance market for network cameras."
