Axis Communications has been awarded a federal Supply Schedule Contract by the U.S. General Services Administration. The GSA schedule includes all Axis networked video products for security and surveillance applications.

Axis networked cameras and video servers are currently used by law enforcement agencies, departments of transportation, government buildings, and educational and correctional facilities for advanced security, surveillance and remote monitoring applications. The new GSA schedule will allow Axis to further develop its relationship with government buyers, and it will enable the company's channel partners to sell Axis networked video products to the federal government under Axis' contract. "The U.S. federal government is expected to spend more than USD37.7 billion for Homeland Security this year, including cutting-edge security and surveillance technology," said James Marcella, government sales manager for Axis Communications. "With its GSA schedule in place, Axis and its channel partners are in a prime position to capitalize on these new sales opportunities." Axis network cameras and video servers contain built-in Web servers, compression chips and operating systems, enabling them to connect to the computer network in minutes and transmit images over an intranet or the Internet. This allows users with the proper passwords to view images via a Web browser and transmit critical images to law enforcement agencies or the media within seconds.
